Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, on a server located in Germany. I have concluded a data processing agreement with Hetzner under Art. 28 GDPR, which ensures that Hetzner processes your data only on my instructions and in compliance with the GDPR. Hetzner's privacy policy is available at hetzner.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Every time you open a page, the web server automatically records information that your browser sends: your IP address, the date and time of the request, the requested page, the HTTP status code, the amount of data transferred, the referring page and your browser's user agent.

This data is needed to deliver the website and to keep the server stable and secure, for example to detect attacks. The legal basis is my legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The log files are not combined with other data and are deleted after 14 days at the latest, unless they are needed to investigate a specific security incident.

Contacting me by email

If you write me an email, I process your email address, your name if given, and the content of your message to reply to you. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your message is about entering into a contract. I delete the correspondence once it is no longer needed, unless statutory retention periods apply.

No cookies, no tracking, no third-party content

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking tools. Fonts and all other resources are served from this server, so opening the site sends no data to third parties such as Google.

The site links to my profiles on GitHub, LinkedIn and Instagram and to other external websites. No data is transferred to these services until you click such a link. After that, the privacy policy of the respective website applies.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data I hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or deleted (Art. 17), to restrict its processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). To use these rights, just send me an email.

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one responsible for me: Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (ldi.nrw.de).

This website uses TLS encryption (HTTPS), so data transferred between your browser and the server cannot be read by third parties.
